Ethnic regions-------------------

Junta scorched earth village terrorism campaign---------------
Human Rights Day was Saturday Dec. 10; on that day junta terrorists burned 26 villages, or more, in 5 townships – Depayin, Htee Chaing, Kawlin, Butalin, and Ye Oo. The assaults on civilian communities involved hundreds of troops as well as helicopter gunships. One of the villages destroyed, again, was Letyetkone, which became famous for a September attack in which a helicopter killed dozens of children and teachers in a school. Over half a million people in Sagaing Region are homeless due to this wave of terrorism. (The Irrawaddy)
As junta terrorists were burning 5 villages of Kawlin township over the past 3 days, they also shot and killed 5 civilians for reasons unknown. In order to prevent the refugees from surviving, the troops killed livestock, burned grain supplies, and destroyed farming equipment.
In an effort to increase famine, troops and Pyu Saw Htee fired mortars at farmers trying to harvest their corn crop yesterday in Depayin township of Sagaing Region. Then some local PDFs came and shot their own locally-manufactured mortars into the enemy camp, silencing the mortar fire. The terrorists continued their burning of nearby villages, however. (People's Spring)
Troops are burning Kudo Kone village in Myaung township of Sagaing Region today. As residents fled, troops fired on them with mortars. The entire village is burning to the ground. (Khit Thit Media) Likewise, terrorists who had been burning villages in Depayin township moved on to Mithah village in Ye Oo township today, torching homes. (The Irrawaddy)
After the battle between PDFs and junta troops in northern Kalay township of Sagaing Region 2 days ago, troops entered Nan Chaung village there today and began burning houses and a church temple. (Mizzima)
People’s Defense Forces (PDFs)-----------------
In Sagaing Region, junta troops captured 3 PDF soldiers in Myaung township on Dec. 11 and burned them alive. The following day the same terrorist troops were burning Pwasaw village when PDFs attacked them to stop the destruction, killing 2 junta troops. The troops nevertheless proceeded to burn Pwasaw and Hletin Oo villages today. (Khit Thit Media)
Troops marching to between destroyed villages in Kathah township were blown to pieces by PDFs on Dec. 11. Roadside bombs killed 6 troops out of 63 and wounded 10 others, some missing arms and legs. The troops buried their dead along with the severed limbs by the roadside. (Khit Thit Media, Ayeyarwaddy Times)
In Monywa township yesterday, a PDF fired on Pyu Saw Htee terrorists as they were leaving Tawpu village, using rifles and 40mm grenades. The casualty toll isn’t reported. (Khit Thit Media) Tawpu was a regular village that has been converted to a Pyu Saw Htee camp.
Similarly, PDFs fired locally-manufactured mortars into a Pyu Saw Htee camp at Joypon in Depayin township yesterday. Damage and casualties aren’t known. The Pyu Saw Htees from Joypon have been attacking surrounding villages. (Myaelatt Athan)
Yesterday a local PDF attacked a junta camp at Kotaungbo in Kantbalu township after most of the troops went to attack villages in Kawlin township. The battle lasted 3 hours, and PDFs were on the point of capturing the camp when junta helicopters arrived and forced them to retreat. The troops who had gone to Kawlin returned as a result of the PDF attac. (Kachin News Group)
A military engineering PDF in Magway Region continues to crank out guns and ammunition to supply nearby PDFs. It just produced and donated another batch of 10 guns with bullets and hand grenades. (Myaelatt Athan) In lieu of foreign military assistance to the Revolution, local entities are doing what they can to correct the weaponry imbalance between the people and the junta.
A PDF in Pauk township dropped multiple drone bombs on a junta/Pyu Saw Htee terrorist camp at Kukkosu yesterday, wounding 4 Pyu Saw Htees. A video shows one of the bombs going through a roof and blowing up inside a building. (People's Spring)
Urban warfare------------------
In Mandalay, the high-priced Zeus nightclub, which is involved in drug trafficking and which pays financial support to the junta, was bombed by an urban PDF today. The PDF described the bombing as a warning, since it was a small explosion timed when no one was there, but indicated that more attacks could follow if the drug distribution and junta support continue. (Khit Thit Media)
In Dawei city, regime surveillance police who knock on doors at night to see who is sleeping where, are nowadays wearing civilian clothes and disguises on their heads. Residents aren’t sure if they are real junta police or Pyu Saw Htees or what. Or perhaps the police are afraid of being identified, since some are being assassinated. (Tanintharyi Times) In related events, a local junta administrator and a Pyu Saw Htee terrorist leader were both assassinated yesterday in Launglone township, adjacent to Dawei city. (Khit Thit Media)
Political and economic-------------------
The United Nations credentials committee has renewed pro-democracy ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun for another year as Burma’s official UN representative, in direct opposition to the insistence of the illegal military regime. (Voice of America via Ayeyarwaddy Times)
Farm fields on the large islands of the Irrawaddy River are normally full of paddy (rice) crops this time of year, but this year are fallow and full of weeds. This is a result of the junta’s terrorism campaign, which has driven hundreds of thousands of farm families off their land and into refugee status. The implications for the nation’s food supply are dire. (People's Spring)
