Karen and Kachin forces wail on junta forces in Kaw T'Ree, Beit-Tavoy, and Indaw
Ethnic regions-------------------
In the battle of Kaw T’Ree yesterday in Dooplaya District of Kawthoolei (Kawkareik township on Burmese maps), Karen forces dropped 40 drone bombs and fired mortars at junta troops that were approaching Mikathein Pagoda Hill. At least 20 troops were killed including an officer, and 5 were wounded. The dead were still lying around in the evening, and the surviving troops had to retreat, burning civilian homes as they went. Junta jets dropped bombs during the night, injuring about 10 local civilians, and the junta proxy BGF sent 20 vehicles for reinforcement. (Than Lwin Khet News) The Kawthoolei government (KNU) says its army killed 56 junta troops in Dooplaya District (the Kaw T’Ree battle) during the week Dec. 22-28. (People's Spring)
Meanwhile in Beit-Tavoy District of Kawthoolei (Tanintharyi Region on Burmese maps), the junta and Pyu Saw Htee have been fortifying police barracks and camps in Thayetchaung, Dawei, and Launglone townships, building trenches and palisades. Junta positions have come under more attacks than ever in Beit-Tavoy District this past month. (Tanintharyi Times)
The Kachin army’s Dec. 26-27 attack on a column of 170 junta troops in Indaw township of northern Sagaing Region was apparently devastating. At least 59 partially-burned bodies of dead troops have been found after the others retreated. Some were burned in local houses, others in piles of rice straw. Many others were wounded, but that number isn’t known. One Kachin soldier was killed and 3 wounded. (Khit Thit Media)
In Karenni State, a junta sergeant and a captain who frequently mocked Aung San Suu Kyi and the Spring Revolution on social media both emerged from their trench on Dec. 26 and went to take a bath, when both were blown up and killed by a Karenni mortar shell. (Khit Thit Media)
Junta scorched earth village terrorism campaign---------------
The junta burned three villages in Palaw township of Beit-Tavoy District of Kawthoolei (Tanintharyi Region on Burmese maps) today, after suffering heavy losses in an ambush and battle by local PDFs there yesterday. The fighting continued again today, with the junta sending reinforcements by sea to get around the danger posed by the PDFs on the road, and the PDFs launching new attacks. Troops retaliated for their losses by attacking and burning Toh, Danshin, and Thingandaw villages on the Myeik-Palaw road. (People's Spring)
People’s Defense Forces (PDFs)-----------------
The TGR Women’s Drone Force, which operates in Sagaing, Magway, and Mandalay Regions, carried out a series of drone bombings on junta troops in several locations on Dec. 27-28. A video shows drones dropping a bomb through a roof into a house where junta troops and Pyu Saw Htee terrorists were having a meeting; in a temple courtyard where troops were drinking; and blowing the roofs off two other buildings. The women appear to be bombing from lower altitudes than most drones, and are far more accurate.
Another junta airbase has hit by a missile yesterday. Two PDFs fired a missile into the junta’s northwest command airbase at Monywa; a video of the attack got disrupted and the damage isn’t known yet. (Mizzima)
A PDF in Myinmu township of Sagaing Region bombed a truckload of 20 junta troops headed toward Monywa yesterday and forced it to turn back. (Khit Thit Media)
A military engineering PDF in Shwebo township, Sagaing Region is now manufacturing and distributing rifles to other PDFs in the area. No technical specifications are given other than that the stocks can fold for ease of carrying, but photos show magazines that appear to hold about 20 rounds of .22 caliber ammunition. (Ayeyarwaddy Times)
After a Pyu Saw Htee terrorist leader was assassinated in Tamu township of Sagaing Region on Dec. 27, the Pyu Saw Htee then randomly killed a couple who ran a tea shop yesterday. A local PDF shot 7 Pyu Saw Htees in a truck today and captured their motley collection of rifles, pistols, ammunition, and grenades. No two guns are the same. (People's Spring)
