Ethnic regions-------------------
Two battles occurred yesterday in Kawthoolei (Karen nation) Dooplaya District (Myawaddy township on Burmese maps) along the Myawaddy-Waw Lay road on the Thailand border. Junta troops trying to get into Shwe Aye Myaing village from their camp at Ukritta were intercepted by the Karen Venom commandos who killed 10 troops and wounded others. One Karen soldier was killed and 3 wounded by a 120mm mortar round fired by the junta. Further north at the Three-story Bend, junta troops tried again to move south along the road to reinforce Ukritta, but were pushed back once again by the Karen army Cobra Column and allied PDF. Two junta troops were killed including a captain, while a Karen PDF soldier also died. (Khit Thit Media)
A junta administrator in Kawthoolei Doo Tha Htoo District (Bilin township on Burmese maps) was assassinated yesterday. He had been threatening local citizens and informing for the junta. (Khit Thit Media)
In Shan State, since negotiations broke down between the northern Shan army (SSPP) and the junta, both sides have been preparing their forces in central Shan State and conflict appears imminent. (Mizzima)
Junta scorched earth village terrorism campaign---------------
Six trucks of troops arrived in Yephyu township of Kawthoolei Brigade 4 area (Tanintharyi Region on Burmese maps) at dawn today and began invading Kamaungchaung and Eikani villages, causing residents to flee into the jungle. The troops fired rifles and mortars into the villages, shooting and abducting some civilians. When the people had left, the troops looted the homes of valuables. At around 6 a.m. the local PDF arrived and began returning fire. Five villages are now depopulated by the attack.
In Ye Oo township of Sagaing Region, troops attacked Tintaynyan village yesterday and burned over 250 homes and businesses. Residents of 4 area villages fled as refugees. (Mizzima) Local PDFs came and offered resistance, prompting the junta troops to go to Depayin township to bring back more weapons this morning. As they were on their way, a PDF bombed the convoy on a bridge. Casualties aren't known yet. (People's Spring)
People’s Defense Forces (PDFs)-----------------
In Sagaing Region, junta troops attacked and burned Yeka and Dudauk villages of Salingyi township yesterday and then camped at Letpanjun, where they came under mortar fire from several local PDFs; 9 troops were killed in the attack. Also in Salingyi township yesterday, PDFs attacked other junta troops camped at Pepinkan using 60mm, 80mm, and 120mm mortars, killing 6 of them. (Khit Thit Media)
Today, a transport of junta police and Pyu Saw Htee militia was returning from training in Mandalay to Sagaing Region; as they passed through Myinmu township they were bombed with 10 charges, which killed 4 of the party. Others were injured. As the convoy then continued, it was bombed again, destroying the vehicle and killing at least 6 junta operatives. Many others were wounded, according to one of the PDFs. A new report emerged about casualties from the July 24 multi-PDF attack on the junta supply flotilla as it passed upstream through Kani township on the Chindwin River. A PDF source claims to have information that 25 troops were killed on the boats that day, mostly by PDF sniper fire. (Khit Thit Media)

In Magway Region, the junta casualty toll from the July 28 PDF attack in Pauk township has risen to 17 killed including an officer, and there were many injured PDF fighters. (Than Lwin Khet News) Today, a PDF shot 3 junta police while they were shopping in Minywa, Gangaw township; 2 died.
In Mandalay Region, a local PDF in Nwatogyi township went to assassinate a junta administrator and Pyu Saw Htee leader yesterday who has been extorting money from citizens. He was out somewhere with 2 of his bodyguards, but the 3rd bodyguard was there, an air force officer. The PDF assassinated him and captured a shotgun, rifle, and ammunition. (Myaelatt Athan)
A Mandalay PDF in alliance with the ethnic Ta'ang army (TNLA) jointly attacked junta troops who were deployed from their base in Pakokku, Magway Region to patrol in Pyin Oo Lwin and Naungcho townships in Mandalay Region and Shan State, respectively. They killed at least 3 troops and caused some injuries. (The Irrawaddy)
Joint PDF forces attacked a gang of 50 troops in Santkaing for 5 hours on July 27, killing 8 of them and wounding others. (Myaelatt Athan) A local junta administrator in Minhla township of Bago Region was assassinated yesterday.
Urban warfare------------------
In Yangon, the Toxic Boys urban PDF exploded 2 hand grenades at City Hall today on Maha Bandula Park downtown, a central and highly sensitive location. Two junta police were injured. Afterwards, troops rampaged in the surrounding blocks, seizing 2 random youths, beating them badly with rifle butts, then throwing them into a van; they may never be seen alive. (The Irrawaddy)
Also in Yangon, urban PDFs coordinated by the National Unity Government ministry of defense carried out 3 bombings in Sanchaung township last night, including a junta police station, a surveillance camera control station, and an immigration office. A statement said the bombings are in reprisal for the murder by hanging of 4 pro-democracy martyrs on July 23. Another urban PDF, the Toxic Boys, bombed prison staff housing in Insein township, also last night; 8 prison staff were hit, of which 2 died. (People's Spring) Other bombs exploded at Myangone and Hlaing townships, and 3 blasts in North Dagon tsp. These operations are part of the NUG's Nan Htike Aung guerrilla warfare campaign. In Mandalay, the junta seized and closed a private medical clinic, accusing it of providing health services to PDF members and anti-regime activists. (Chindwin News Agency) The junta has persecuted the health professions since the coup d'état a year and a half ago, since doctors and nurses were among the first and most vocal opponents of military rule.
In Monywa city, urban guerrillas threw a grenade at junta troops guarding a branch of the junta-owned Myanma Economic Bank, killing 2 of them. (Mizzima)
Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM)-------------------
The parliament in exile, the CRPH, announced today that 93 elected legislators have been imprisoned by the illegal military regime, and 2 have been killed. They are from the majority NLD party that won over 80% of the seats in the November 2020 elections, shortly before the coup. The junta is trying to systematically eliminate the majority party ahead of the sham elections it threatens to hold in 2023.
