Burma coup resistance notes October 24, 2022
A regime that uses jets to attack a concert crowd, killing dozens, then blocks the wounded from reaching hospitals
A night of tragedy, as junta jets bombed a crowd gathered at a concert for Kachin Independence Organization Day celebration near Hpakant last night. At least 60 people were killed, including performing artists and Kachin celebrities, Kachin army officers and soldiers, and many civilians. There are more than 100 injured people, some needing urgent care, but the junta has blocked them from getting to hospitals in order to increase the death toll.
It defies belief that the generals think this kind of barbarity will serve their cause. Far from cowing the Kachin into submission, last night’s massacre can only cement the determination of the Kachin and other people to eradicate the illegal military regime entirely. Meanwhile, not a single international ally or organization has made any move to implement a no-fly zone or otherwise stop the slaughter of civilians by Burma’s terror regime.
Ethnic regions-------------------
In Kachin State, junta jets continued to bomb Longja Mountain today, scene of a failed junta ground invasion 2 days ago, after the mass killing at a concert there last night. Meanwhile, the Kachin army’s interception of three junta columns on Oct. 22 resulted in at least 20 troops killed including a battalion commander, and that total includes some troops killed accidentally by the junta’s own bombs and mortars. In retaliation for its losses, the junta fired mortars into civilian areas of Momauk town and farmland, killing a pig. (Khit Thit Media)
In Dooplaya District of Kawthoolei, junta-proxy BGF troops marched conspicuously throughout Myawaddy town for the past 2 days, nervous that the Karen army might take over the town as it did Kaw T’Ree (Kawkareik on Burmese maps) on Oct. 22.
Karen army commandos and the Angry Bird Drone Rangers PDF dropped bombs yesterday on the urban police station in Kaw T’Ree, a day after junta forces re-occupied the town following the Karen army’s surprise attack. The drone bombs killed 3 troops. Meanwhile, the junta’s jet bombing of the township continued for a 3rd day today. (Khit Thit Media)
The casualty toll from the Karen occupation of Kaw T’Ree is 26 junta troops killed and 12 wounded, 3 Karen soldiers killed and 7 wounded, one civilian, a monk, was killed by junta gunfire, and 16 civilians were injured, mostly by jet bombing. (Khit Thit Media)

One of them died from his injuries. (Myaelatt Athan)
In Mandalay Region, a PDF in Myinchan township blew up a junta-owned gas pipeline there. It took 2 bombs yesterday and the day before to rupture the pipeline. This is a domestic pipeline rather than the one that supplies China from the Indian Ocean port of Kyaukphyu. (Mizzima)
