News has now come to light of individual and gang rapes by junta troops on 7 women in Kani township of Sagaing Region in August; one of the victims is mentally retarded. The names of the perpetrators are known, but the names of the villages and victims are being kept secret to avoid recrimination by the junta. (Khit Thit Media)

In Kawthoolei (Karen nation) Doo Tha Htoo District (Bilin township on Burmese maps), the Karen army bombed a 3-vehicle junta convoy going from Thaton toward Bilin the night of Sept. 4, completely destroying one truck and damaging another, killing 5 troops, and wounding 9, though the totals may rise. Not far from there in Thaton township a local PDF attacked a junta toll gate with 40mm grenades yesterday, killing 4 troops including a captain and a sergeant, and wounding 4 more. (Salween Press)
In Kawthoolei Dooplaya District (Kawkareik township on Burmese maps), Karen army forces opened fire on junta troops in Kyondo today, killing 3 troops including a company commander, and wounding 2. The junta responded by firing 120mm mortars into civilian areas including a Buddhist monastery, where it injurerd a monk and another man.
Karen army Brigade 5 (covering Mutraw District, or Hpapun township on Burmese maps) announced its combat statistics for the month of August: 118 clashes with junta troops and/or their BGF proxies, 84 enemy killed, 47 wounded, one Karen soldier killed. Three junta airstrikes killed a civilian and injured 5.
In Karenni State, fighting has been continuous for the past 3 days between Hpruso and Demawso townships, with the Karenni defense forces ambushing junta troop movements in several locations and causing an uknown number of casualties. In Mon State, junta troops have kidnapped 5 random youths in Paung township in retaliation for the Sept. 3 attack on the police station there. The 5 (2 women, 3 men) were returning from work in the mountains and have no connection to the attack, but all youth are suspected of PDF involvement. Junta scorched earth village terrorism campaign---------------
In northern Myaung township of Sagaing Region, a junta/Pyu Saw Htee terror squad of about 100 operatives based in Kanni village attacked the nearby villages of Kannet and Obo. This is the 2nd terror attack on Obo. These junta/Pyu Saw Htee thugs were attacked in their camp for two consecutive days on Sept. 1-2 by a large PDF coalition, causing an unknown number of casualties.
In Butalin township of Sagaing, another junta terror squad attacked Maungtaung village with gunfire and arson yesterday, burning houses and killing 3 civilians.)

People’s Defense Forces (PDFs)-----------------
Despite the junta’s efforts to secure the banks of the Irrawaddy River, PDFs are again firing at junta supply boats coming back down toward Monywa from Bhamo in Kachin State. The junta has conducted jet airstrikes and village invasions to try to keep PDFs away from the banks, but the river is long. The shore troops themselves have come under attack, including an assault yesterday by the Myo Hla PDF in Shwegu township of Kachin State. (People's Spring)
In Mandalay Region, a PDF in Nwatogyi township fired mortars at a junta position on the evening of Sept. 4 and killed 3 troops and wounded others. (Mizzima)
In Mawlaik township of northern Sagaing Region, about 100 junta troops raided a PDF camp yesterday, capturing some weapons and materials, but all the PDF members escaped after a brief battle. (The 74 Media)

In Yangon last night, bombs exploded at a junta admin office in North Okalappa township, at 2 junta-owned fuel stations and another location in South Okalappa township, two in South Dagon township, one in Mayangone township, and at a navy yard entrance in Thanlyin township. (Khit Thit Media)
In Mandalay, an urban PDF bombed the office of junta-aligned MPT mobile phone office in Pyigyitagon township yesterday.

In Irrawaddy Region, the junta is demanding “donations” from wealthy families and using the money to buy food, which it then sells at discounted prices to the public under the guise of “relief” during the economic crisis it created, and pocketing the proceeds. (Mizzima)
