The Karen army storms another junta camp; People's Defense Forces counter-attack junta troops burning villages in central Burma.

Karen army Brigade 6 and allied PDF seized a junta camp at Jait on yesterday in Kawthoolei (Karen nation) Dooplaya District (Kawkareik township on Burmese maps). Seven junta troops were killed and 2 wounded; several were also captured unharmed. The camp had been surrounded and besieged since August 8. In KawthooleiMutraw District (Hpapun township on Burmese maps), the Karen army published results recent fighting: There were 8 clashes during the past 3 days, in which 9 junta and BGF troops were killed including a BGF officer. Significantly, the Karen forces destroyed a bridge on the Papun-Kamamaung road, cutting off vehicular resupply to the junta enclave at Papun town, the largest population center in the district. A report just received from Kawthoolei Beit-Tavoy District (Tanintharyi Region on Burmese maps) of a PDF roadside bomb attack on a convoy near Dawei town on Sept. 18 says a vehicle was disabled by the blast and about 15 troops inside were seriously wounded, their survival not known. The Kachin army and allied PDF fought junta troops in Indaw township of northern Sagaing Region for two days, Sept. 18-19. At least 8 regime troops died and 1 PDF fighter; the junta buried its troops in the mud at the battle site. There could be more junta dead that haven’t been discovered.
In Chin State, Chin defense forces attacked a junta army detail that was providing security for one of the junta’s sham humanitarian food sales at subsidized prices. A Chin spokesman criticized the junta for selling rice and oil at below-market prices as humanitarian assistance, when that food is stolen from the public. He says the junta is just creating propaganda and taking advantage of the people’s misery during the economic crisis created by the regime itself. (Myaelatt Athan)
In Jaythee township of central Shan State, the pro-junta southern Shan militia, RCSS, attacked a position of the northern anti-junta Shan army, SSPP today; the attack lasted 20 minutes, then the RCSS withdrew. (People's Spring) Since the SSPP has been battling junta troops in northern Shan State, the likelihood is that the junta mobilized the rival RCSS to come to its support.
Junta scorched earth village terrorism campaign---------------
In Khin Oo township of Sagaing Region, junta troops burned down Myindaung 2 days ago Sept. 19 and kidnapped 5 hostages to use as human shields. The troops looted the homes and stole or killed livestock. This and other recent attacks have set off a wave of 10,000 local refugees fleeing regime violence.
Likewise yesterday in Htilin township of Magway Region, troops attacked and burned Anyadaw, Nwipyan, and Juthah villages, taking one hostage. (Khit Thit Media)
In Tantse township of Sagaing Region, 70 junta troops were burning down Gwegone village yesterday and setting up camp, when a PDF coalition jointly attacked them in the afternoon for an hour, using locally-made mortars and gunfire. Junta casualties aren’t known, but one PDF fighter was killed, another lost a leg, and 2 more were wounded less seriously. Some injuries were from landmines. (Mizzima)
In Kathah township of northern Sagaing Region yesterday, 80 junta troops were attacking Modahgyi village when they were met by local PDFs, leading to an intense battle; results haven’t been reported yet. (Kachin News Group)
In Sai Du village of Gangaw township, Magway Region yesterday, indiscriminate junta mortar fire killed 3 men and wounded 3 women. (Than Lwin Times)
People’s Defense Forces (PDFs)-----------------
In Sagaing Region, a PDF in Khin Oo township bombed a convoy of 3 armored vehicles coming from Ye Oo yesterday, damaging one so that it had to be towed; casualties aren’t known. Also, 3 other vehicles were bombed on the road last night, killing 15 and wounding 7 others. (Khit Thit Media)
Sixty junta troops raided another PDF camp in Monywa township yesterday, in Pullin village. Troops killed one PDF fighter and 2 villagers. While there, they also ransacked and looted some village homes.
Over the past 2 days 7 dalans, junta administrators, and pro-junta Pyu Saw Htee thugs were assassinated in Hpakant, Bilin, Kalay, and Sangkai townships (Kachin State, Kawthoolei, Sagaing Region, and Mandalay Region respectively). They have been responsible for getting PDF fighters and regular citizens imprisoned and killed. (Khit Thit Media)
In Bago Region yesterday, a PDF blew up a junta admin office in Kyauktikah town, killing a soldier and 2 Pyu Saw Htee thugs; after the explosion, the PDF was able to capture 4 junta army weapons. (Khit Thit Media)
In Yangon, a junta ward administrator was assassinated in Thaketa township yesterday.
Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM)-------------------
The American government has provided $1 million to the United Nations' Independent Investigative Mechanism on Myanmar (IIMM) to help prosecute the war crimes of Burma’s illegal military regime. (People's Spring)
The junta has ordered refugee camps in Kutkai, Muse, Namtu, and Manton townships of northern Shan State to close by the end of the year, effectively forcing the people back into areas where the junta’s violence caused the original displacement. (Than Lwin Khet News)
