Burma coup resistance notes September 14, 2022
A deputy commander of a key Karen army unit, the Cobra Column, believes the collapse of the junta is imminent, and says the resistance just needs to remain united. Capt. Saw Kaw made these remarks in an interview with the Ayeyarwaddy Times. The Cobras have halted the junta’s advance in Kawthoolei (Karen nation) Dooplaya District (Myawaddy township on Burmese maps) and killed over 100 troops.

In Karenni State, in a clash on Sept. 12 in Thay Sulay village of Demawso township, Karenni defense forces killed 4 junta troops.
In Kawthoolei Beit-Tavoy District (Tanintharyi Region on Burmese maps) A PDF in Ye Phyu township assassinated a pro-junta Pyu Saw Htee terror group leader yesterday.
Junta scorched earth village terrorism campaign---------------
Junta troops in Monywa township of Sagaing Region fired mortars into Nagahdwin village today and burned homes. They rounded up and kidnapped 12 civilians who failed to escape. (Khit Thit Media)
People’s Defense Forces (PDFs)-----------------
In Sagaing Region, a PDF in Monywa fired a grenade at junta propaganda TV crews filming some generals and cronies playing a round of golf yesterday in the middle of the civil war and resulting economic collapse. Two PDF estimates 2 killed and 3 wounded. (Myaelatt Athan)
During a 2-day battle that ended yesterday, a PDF in Palay township bombed a junta column that was committing terror attacks on villages, killing at least 3 troops, but the casualty figures aren’t known.
In Indaw township of northern Sagaing, a PDF received inside information from a watermelon about 5 Pyu Saw Htee thugs, and assassinated them. At least one had received paramilitary training from the junta to fight PDFs and attack civilians. (Mizzima)
In Kawlin township, a PDF attempting to defend a village against a junta terror attack was blindsided due to information provided to the junta by a local dalan; 8 PDF fighters were killed.
In Magway Region, a PDF in Yesagyo township laid mines before a column of 50 junta troops yesterday, wounding 6 of them seriously; their survival status isn’t known. One PDF received a non-fatal gunshot injury to the butt. Today a PDF in Kyauktu killed 2 junta troops riding on a motorcycle. (Khit Thit Media)
Urban warfare------------------
In Yangon yesterday junta troops in plain clothes and hiding in civilian vehicles ambushed a peaceful street protest in Kyimyindaing township, shooting and kidnapping 15 demonstrators. The abductees have not been heard from, so it isn’t known whether they are still alive or under torture. (Khit Thit Media) This is the same area where junta troops in a speeding vehicle ran over and slaughtered protesters last year.
In Mandalay, an urban PDF assassinated a junta border police officer yesterday and captured his weapon and ammunition.
In Monywa city, capital of Sagaing Region, an urban PDF yesterday attacked junta troops at a street roundabout in front of Monywa Economics University, killing 3 of them.
Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM)-------------------
The National Unity Government reported that the junta has attacked 190 schools in 13 states and regions since the coup. They have destroyed schools in liberated areas through mortar fire and airstrikes, and in junta-controlled areas they have misused schools as troop barracks, weapons depots, and prisons. This is the same regime that tried to coerce students nationwide to resume attending the schools it controls, despite a lack of qualified teachers due to the national strike. (Mizzima)
