In Karenni area, junta troops continued to shell Mobye town yesterday and today, hitting a Buddhist temple this morning where refugees are sheltering, killing 4 civilians including 2 children and injuring 13 others. (Khit Thit Media) When junta troops retreated from Mobye on Wednesday, 7 of them apparently died from stepping on Karenni landmines. Now Karenni defense forces are trying to combat the infiltration of plain-clothes junta troops sneaking past its checkpoints in regular passenger vehicles. It is scrutinizing travelers closely. In Arakan State, the Arakan Army captured a junta border guard camp in northern Maungdaw township last night; the border guards fought and resisted the AA attack at first. About 30 border guard troops were said to be at the station, and what happened to them and their weapons isn’t yet clear. This is the 3rd junta camp taken recently by the AA. After the take-over a junta jet came and bombed. The AA also warned that large-scale fighting is likely to break out in many locations. That happened this afternoon when the AA fired on a truckload of junta troops near Taungkot. In Kachin State, the junta ambushed 4 PDF fighters back in April, killing 2 of them at that time and capturing the other two. It has now killed the remaining 2 in captivity. (Kachin News Group)
Junta army desertions------------------
In Chin State, a junta soldier defected to the Chin defense forces with full weapons in Rikhodar on the Indian border, and received a 600,000 kyat cash reward. In Yinmapin township of Sagaing Region a junta sergeant defected to a local PDF with full weapons; his reward was 800,000 kyats.
Junta scorched earth village terrorism campaign---------------
Junta helicopters fired on Thitdone and Nyaunghla villages today, forcing residents to flee into the bush. Troops are said to be nearby, and the fate of the villages isn’t clear yet. (Khit Thit Media)
In Kantbalu township of Sagaing Region, a junta terrorism squad is shooting and burning Ingyinsu and Chat Kone villages today, and kidnapping the head monk and some civilians. At least 4 civilians have been injured by junta bullets. Yesterday they were destroying Mithalin Kone village. (Khit Thit Media)
People’s Defense Forces (PDFs)-----------------
In Sagaing Region, a PDF in Myinmu township threw a powerful enhanced grenade into the middle of a group of junta troops playing basketball, killing 7 of them, according to a watermelon source. (Chindwin Yoma News) Meanwhile in Ayadaw township, a PDF attacked junta troops and Pyu Saw Htee thugs in Ngwedwin village yesterday, killing 5 of them before dawn. In Ye Oo township, an interim junta police chief was shot to death; the junta claims it was suicide, but that hasn’t been corroborated by a reputable source. (People's Spring)
Urban warfare------------------
In Yangon, a large explosion rocked the junta police station this morning in Kamayut township, injuring 4 people nearby, and a bomb went off in Myangon tsp. Two dalans were assassinated today in Thaketa township. Last night a junta admin office in North Dagon township was bombed.
